Reets Family Progress

Reetu's mum reads the PJ NWT Bible faithfully every night. But by 11pm it's lights out, however, it seems this is no problem for mum.  Reetu took this picture about 11:15pm.

Meet Reetu's dad!  The "leaving-articles-out-for-unbelieving-mate-method really does work - see!  (Mum, Dad and Monica reading one of our publications)  Below picture shows Dad and Monica trying to figure out the PJ NWT.  So far so good.

It is unusually hot even for the locals, so service is not easy.  Must take breaks, stay hydrated and pace yourself.  Rainy season should begin in June but we still have yet to endure May.
*Zone visit - Brother Lett - Packed out Aranetta Coliseum (15,000 – very Similar to the Oakland Coliseum or Cow Palace).  40,000 additional tuned in by Radio.  A shout-out to Punjabi - while stating the PI stats, BC member from the PI Branch mentioned how many Temp SP’s in the entire country and then raised the question of the 6 SP’s in Quezon City, ‘why do we have SP’s in Quezon City when there are already so many JWs here? Because they are helping us in the Punjabi field” (all 6 are in our PJ group.  The talk was in Tagalog, friends sitting behind us translated for us, so cute!)
*Reetu’s sister, Monica, has started to study now with a missionary visiting from Sri Lanka.  Reetu’s aunt has also agreed to a regular bible study.  So that awful Sbarro experience “domino’d” from Reetu to mum to monica to aunt, and we are prayerfully and carefully working on Dad now.  It is my first experience studying with a Hindu family with a mixture of Sikhism.  When they believe in a few million gods it is quite a challenge to teach about our One-Living-God and then to carefully tell them that their gods go back to before the flood (Genesis 6:1).  Wow! Try gently landing that bomb-shell.
*Other excitements include spending the night at a friends house with hil and I sharing a bed- come 3am I gotta go to the loo only to jump back out of the bathroom to avoid a fist sized cockroache, so still aching to burst, I return to bed just wishing  hil would wake up which suddenly she does because, “I thought I felt something crawl on my leg,” (she says so stinking calmly), I am like, on with the lights and checking the bed cuz hil is half blind as I discover a hairy, body-less leg, panic attack is on its way, breathe, don’t panic, “is it a spider leg or cockroache leg, where’s the rest of it?” we don’t know, but “ahhhh!,” cockroach is the culprit, big one, I jump on the bed, hil loses her balance and tries to climb on the wall, long story short, we slept with the lights on.  Needless to say, we did not get much sleep.
*p.s. see p.115 2013 yearbook photo of couple in Myanmar.  They are currently in our cong attending BSCC.
*p.p.s. it’s hotter than ‘gehenna’ here, no . . . let’s just say hotter than the lake of fire! (for a taste: sit in a very-hot steamy sauna, fully dressed.  As beads of sweat roll from your scalp, cool off using a blow dryer, that is, on the hot ‘heat’ setting) It’s a Cruel Summer (by Bananarama) is my theme song for now.
